| Video Discription | In this video we show an endoscopic interlaminar contralateral approach to decompress left L5 nerve root affected by a lumbar disc herniation. Rationale for such approach selection was: - L5-S1 seems to be related with a higher postoperative dysesthesia (POD) rate, mainly because of nerve ganglion manipulation and difficult foraminal access. - Interlaminar contralateral access provides a "no-contact" nerve decompression, allegedly diminishing POD. - Also, it bypasses the structures usually blocking TF access. - And finally, it exchanges facet remotion for spinous process base remotion (seems like a deal, especially when no severe foraminal stenosis is present!)
