| Video Discription | Tuberculum sellae meningioma causing visual loss during pregnancy Prof. Dr. Selçuk Yılmazlar Uludag University, School of Medicine, Neurosurgery Department, Bursa, TURKEY Neurological status may deteriorate during pregnancy. A 29-years old woman in her second pregnancy presented at 36 weeks of gestation with a 2 weeks history of rapid progressive visual loss in her both eyes (right side prominent). MRI demonstrated tuberculum sella meningioma that place the prechiasmatic region and extended on the diaphragma sella. Neuro-ophthalmological examinations showed visual field loss in both eyes and right side pre-optic atrophic status. The patient underwent operation via a right fronto-orbito-temporal (extended pterional) approach and lesion was removed totally. Post-operatively, visual function was completely restored at the left side and improved visual acuity at the right side. Pituitary adenomas, glial tumours and meningiomas are the most frequent neoplastic lesions presenting during pregnancy. Progesterone positive meningiomas may have contribute rapid meningioma enlargement and become symptomatic during pregnancy.
