| Video Discription | A 48 year-old man with history of two times eye surgery performed by local ophthalmologist (limited with biopsy), due to right retroorbital sarcoma, presented with serious eye pain, proptosis, ophthalmoplegia and blindness. Contrast-enhanced CT and MR images showed an ovoid recurrent lesion extending along the medial wall of the orbit, adjacent to the ethmoid sinus, and proptosis of the right eye. All orbital images confirmed an medial rectus muscle invaded, optic nerve compressed, proggresively enlarged recurrent lesion, with typical intraconal retroglobal lesion. A right transcranial frontoorbital craniotomy was performed with total extirpation of the tumor. Pathology was myxoid sarcoma. Complete excision can only be achieved with transcranial approach. The purpose of this video is to demonstrate that this kind of surgery is a job of neurosurgery. |
