| Video Discription | This video demonstrates laparoscopic incisional hernia (ventral hernia) repair surgery. Laparoscopic ventral hernia repair is done with a technique called IPOM (Intra Peritoneal Onlay Mesh) Plus (Defect Closure), in a case of recurrent ventral hernia (incisional hernia). This was a 34-year-old male patient who had presented with abdominal partially reducible swelling since last 1 year. He had already undergone open umbilical hernia repair with mesh 2 years ago. Laparoscopic surgery is one of the best methods for treating recurrent ventral hernia. In this laparoscopic hernia surgery, after patient is administered general anesthesia, usually 3 laparoscopic ports are inserted into the abdomen. The contents of the hernia and the sac are removed, hernial defect is closed by laparoscopic suturing using nonabsorbable sutures. Later, composite mesh is placed in IPOM fashion and sutured to the abdominal wall from inside by laparoscopic suturing methods. This video demonstrates fixation of mesh on to abdominal wall using laparoscopic suturing without the usage of tackers. WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF LAPAROSCOPIC VENTRAL HERNIA REPAIR?
