In this case, the approach is restricted to the most proximal part of the intracranial internal carotid artery, with a minimal dural opening. The access is direct to the distal dural ring and related structures (anterior crinoid process, ophthalmic artery, proximal ICA for vascular control and optic nerve. The exposure of additional brain tissue is unnecessary. This technique requires to be familiar with keyhole approaches and extradural anatomy of the region. |
