| Video Discription | Craniopharyngioma: Transcranial Approach Prof. Dr. Selçuk YILMAZLAR Uludag University, School of Medicine, Neurosurgery Department, 16059, BURSA, Türkiye Clinical Presentation A 38 year-old man present with bitemporal heteronim asymetric hemianopsia and decreased vision. Visual field chart, computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging scan are shown. This case is demonstrated preinfundibular (type 1) location in the sellar-parasellar-suprasellar region. We chosed right orbito-fronto-temporal (modified pterional) transcranial approach. This approach offers direct visualization of inferior aspect of both optic nerves and optic chiasma, which is essential for preservation of optic perforators during tumor removal. In contrast to to the optic-chiasmal visualisation, it does not offers a direct visualization of the interpeduncular fossa without need for optic apparatus retraction. Complete surgical removal is favorable prognostic factor for recurrence in craniopharyngioma. |
